Our Story
Two mates, a global pandemic, and a bar Queenstown didn't know it needed yet.
How It Started
The Locker Room started as Hayden and Romain's idea. Two best mates and hospitality veterans, they saw a gap in Queenstown's hospo scene. There were pubs that showed the game sometimes, but nowhere built just for Queenstown's sports fans. They roped in Casady, Romain's wife, to handle the admin and design. Then, with more confidence than they probably should have had, the three of them opened the doors in the middle of a global pandemic.
Five years, a lot of long nights and a fair bit more grey hair later, we're still here. Turns out the confidence paid off.
Why Five Stars
Look closely at our branding and you'll spot five stars. They stand for Hayden, Romain and Casady, the three founders, plus Casady & Romain's twin boys, who were all around for the conception of The Locker Room. This place has always been a family project.
Built Different
We didn't want to be a pub that happens to show the odd game. We wanted a dedicated sports bar, built around the fans who never miss a match. That's still what drives every decision we make, from the screens to the menu to the trivia nights.
In 2023 we were honoured to take out Best Sports Bar at the Hospitality Awards for Excellence, the only year that category has run. So technically, we're still the reigning champs.
Here To Stay
We're proud of what we've built, and even prouder of the locals and visitors who've made
The Locker Room home. Come say hello, the game's always on.
